We were approached some time ago by the Suffolk Hunt Pony Club to sponsor one of their cross country fences at the annual Area 8 Pony Club eventing weekend. If you are not familiar with the equestrian scene, then this annual event is somewhat of a big deal which brings together all of the Area 8 branches covering Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. Each year the event is held at a different location and is hosted by one of the inter branch teams. Feeling somewhat generous we opted to sponsor a jump for the whole year and managed to bag the water jump complex. If you’ve witnessed Burley or Hickstead you’ll know that the water complex always brings the biggest crowds due to the chance of there being some unfortunate dunkings!
The event was held in the grounds of Ickworth House near Bury St Edmunds where King’s Meadow Park looked fabulous with dressage arenas, showjumping rings and of course the Cross Country. There was plenty to see and do with the competitors and crowds in their hundreds. Unsurprisingly we spent much of our time at the water complex and were not disappointed to see high drama including numerous dunkings!
