Cannon are pleased to be sponsoring, together with Barton Willmore, some single seater racing action in this year’s Classic Formula Ford 2000 Championship. The series is run under the banner of the Historic Sports Car Club and is for cars built up to 1984 using 2 litre Ford based engines.
We are sponsoring Erik Pagano of Landform Estates in his recently rebuilt Van Diemen RF82. The series takes the drivers to all of the major circuits in the UK, from the popular Brands Hatch and Silverstone to the less known Cadwell Park and many more. Classic and historic racing is now very popular across Europe and has become big business with many different series featuring some exotic and expensive machinery being driven by some seriously quick drivers, many being well-known drivers from the past.
The FF2000 series is one of the most competitive ‘slicks and wings’ series available, as all the cars are closely matched with the same engines and strict rules. It attracts many young and not so young drivers (our man fits the latter group) and because of this produces some close and often frantic racing. Erik last raced in 2009 and won the championship in 2008, which followed his novice season in 2007 where he came second. So, we are not putting any pressure on him upon his return!
More pictures to follow as the season unfolds with the first race scheduled at Donington Park for 8th April.
