Legbourne flood risk assesment

PROJECTS:

Lying on the northern edge of Fulbourn Village (to the east of Cambridge) the site received outline permission for the creation of up to 110 residential dwellings in late 2017.

Early in the site promotion process the site was identified as being at risk of surface water flooding (from overland flows from the rest of Fulbourn). To take advantage of the presence of the spring fed stream running through the site and to account for and manage the potential flooding, a “water friendly” approach to development of the site was adopted, with the layout being formed around the stream and a central core of floodable green space. The resulting scheme includes water as a benefit rather than an inconvenience.

As well as the technical reports and assessments, over our ten year involvement in the promotion and planning of the site Cannon also attended public consultation events and presented evidence at appeal (although the matters on which we presented were not reasons for refusal).
